We are pleased to be able to confirm that services at Brodick Health Centre will be increasing in the coming weeks. We would very much have liked to have been able to announce a firm date before now but pressures on services have remained very challenging in recent times, in particular regards staffing. The Testing Centre has now closed and we would like to thank all involved in the incredible effort to deliver this service for Arran.
In anticipation of more services restarting at the site, refurbishment work has been recently completed. Some nursing and other appointments are already being provided and in the coming weeks nurse , care assistant and GP appointments will increase.
Temporary changes when telephoning Arran Medical Group
Due to a recent rise of COVID-19 infections on Arran, this is regrettably having an impact on Health and Social Care Services and staffing levels on the island. In particular, this is affecting Arran Medical Group. To ensure the GP practice can maintain essential services to patients with the most urgent need, the practice is making temporary changes which includes a restriction on the ability to book advance appointments for routine consultations.
If you require urgent assistance please phone the practice as usual where your call will be triaged and passed to the most appropriate health care professional to deal with your concern. Please be assured that those with the most urgent clinical need will continue to be prioritised. The health care professional you speak to will be able to arrange an in-person appointment if it is felt that this is clinically required .
We are seeking the support of our patients to only contact the practice after considering other healthcare options first to ensure that clinical appointments are available for those most in need. Self-help advice is available by using the Practice’s eConsult service. Advice, care and on many occasions medicine if needed, at no cost, is available from community pharmacies through Pharmacy First Scotland. NHS Inform can also provide information and self-care advice as well as how to access the Right Care, in the Right Place at the Right Time.
All practice staff are working tirelessly to ensure patients continue to receive safe and effective care. We would ask people contacting the GP practice to please be patient and kind as the staff continue to work hard to improve the situation. Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.
Further updates will be provided when available.
Due to Covid-19 safe working practices, our telephone team numbers are reduced resulting in longer response times. Please persevere we will answer as soon as we can.
Welcome to Arran Medical Group
We are committed to providing the highest quality medical care to our patients
The practice has three main surgeries in Brodick Health Centre, Lamlash Medical Centre and Shiskine Surgery. There are also branch surgeries held in Whiting Bay Surgery and Lochranza Surgery.
Arran Medical Group is an accredited GP Training practice. GP Registrars are qualified doctors who have completed between two and five years of hospital training, but who require further general practice experience before entry into practice independently.
We also have Medical Students working with us from time to time.
Please be aware that changes have been made to our opening times due to the ongoing COVID19 Pandemic.
Currently, the Brodick & Lochranza Surgeries remain closed until further notice. The Lamlash, Shiskine and Whiting Bay surgeries are open, and we are mostly taking telephone consultations. If the doctor feels they need to see you, they will arrange the face to face appointment after a phonecall.
We have made some changes to our opening hours due to the current circumstances, please see below.
