Clinics We Offer
Not available at present (essential services only).
Asthma & COPD Clinics
You should have an asthma or COPD review with our practice nurse team at least once a year, as well as following any significant attack (e.g. requiring hospital admission). We will write to you when your annual review is due.
You can find further information about asthma here: http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Asthma.htm
Blood Pressure Monitoring
If you have been diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure) we will ask you to attend for an annual health check, including a review of your risk for cardiovascular disease risk.
This check – as well as any other blood pressure monitoring – can be undertaken by our nurse and healthcare assistant team. If there are any concerns about your blood or BP results, they will alert your GP who will make any necessary adjustments to your medication, or ask you to come in for an appointment.
Child Health Clinics
Child health clinics are arranged on a monthly basis in Brodick, Lamlash, Whiting Bay and Shiskine surgeries. Run in conjunction with the Health Visitor, these clinics are used to administer childhood vaccinations, keep a check on your child’s development, and address any concerns that you have about parenting or your child.
We try to make these clinics particularly welcoming and fun!
We offer a full range of contraception options to our patients. Any GP can prescribe the contraceptive pill and administer the depo injection. Specific GPs are qualified to insert the Implanon/Nexplanon, IUD and IUS. You can read more about options for contraception here on patient.co.uk .
Dr Faye Hamill has a particular interest in women’s health issues, and runs a weekly clinic in Shiskine on Wednesday mornings (see Well Woman Clinic below).
All of our clinical services are subject to the same tight controls on confidentiality. If you would like to discuss this further, please ask when you’re next in, or during your consultation. We are hoping to enhance our provision of services to young people over the next year.
Cryotherapy is the use of liquid nitrogen to freeze skin lesions such as warts, verrucas and solar keratoses, at -196°C.
Appointments for Cryotherapy can be made by phoning 01770 600516.
Our diabetes service is run by our practice nurse team and Dr Graeme Thompson.
They meet every week to discuss patients, and keep a close eye on blood results etc.
We offer a range of minor surgery treatments from all our base sites (Brodick, Lamlash and Shiskine). A referral for a minor surgery treatment will be arranged following consultation with your GP.
Procedures include: aspirations, cautery, excisions (sebaceous cysts, lipomas), injections and nail surgery.

Well Woman Clinics are held in Shiskine Surgery, and offer a longer 20 minute appointment with Dr Hamill and the Healthcare Assistant.
You can still attend any GP or Practice Nurse for general contraception and sexual health advice, at any of our surgeries.
