COVID-19 vaccination programme – Arran update

Statement by Ruth Betley -
Senior Manager, Arran Service, North Ayrshire HSCP

Plans are being firmed up for the next stage of the vaccination programme on the Isle of Arran, which will see the under 50s invited to roll up their sleeve to get their vaccine against COVID-19. This is in line with Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JVCI) guidance.

Clinics are scheduled at Arran High School for 22 May 2021 from 9am to 5pm. Only people registered with the Arran Medical Group will be eligible for vaccination and patients will be contacted either by letter or phone call regarding their scheduled appointment. If you are living on the island temporarily for the next three months and require a vaccine please contact the Practice to register as a temporary resident.

In line with recent updated advice regarding very rare side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine, under 30s will be offered an alternative vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccine offers the best protection against the negative effects of the virus and it is recommended you take the opportunity to receive it when offered. Remember that after vaccination it is still important that locals and visitors to the island continue to make use of the testing facilities available to them if they develop symptoms or they are in close contact with a positive case and follow the FACTS guidance to help protect our communities from the spread of the virus.
