COVID-19 infections are, regrettably, having an impact on Health and Social Care Services and staffing levels on the island. In particular, this is affecting Arran Medical Group with 7 team members currently absent.
We are continuing to offer both ‘telephone’ and ‘face to face’ appointments for those who need it. However, we are seeking the support of our patients to only contact the practice after considering other healthcare options first, this will ensure that clinical appointments are available for those most in need. Self-help advice is available by using the Practice’s eConsult service. Advice, care, and, on many occasions, medicine if needed, at no cost, is available from community pharmacies through Pharmacy First Scotland. NHS Inform can also provide information and self-care advice as well as how to access the Right Care, in the Right Place at the Right Time.
All practice staff are working tirelessly to ensure patients continue to receive safe and effective care. We would ask people contacting the GP practice to please be patient and kind as the staff continue to work hard to improve the situation.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.
We are pleased to be able to confirm that services at Brodick Health Centre will be increasing in the coming weeks. We would very much have liked to have been able to announce a firm date before now but pressures on services have remained very challenging in recent times, in particular regards staffing. The Testing Centre has now closed and we would like to thank all involved in the incredible effort to deliver this service for Arran.
In anticipation of more services restarting at the site, refurbishment work has been recently completed. Some nursing and other appointments are already being provided and in the coming weeks nurse , care assistant and GP appointments will increase.
Macmillan Mobile Information
Our Macmillan Mobile Information and Support Service is making a return visit to Arran. Last year the team came with the bus and 16 people came specifically to visit the service to access information and support. In response to this, we’re returning this year, albeit without the bus. Craig, our Cancer Information and Support Specialist will be in the portacabin at Brodick Medical Centre from 10 -4 on the following dates: 8th August and 22nd August. Please pop along if you have any questions on cancer, want to access support, find out more about how Macmillan can support you, or to access local/national support services.
