Asthma & COPD

We offer yearly asthma or COPD reviews with our practice nurse, as well as following any significant attack (e.g. requiring hospital admission).  We will write to you when your annual review is due.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

If you have been diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure) we will ask you to attend for an annual health check, including a review of your risk for cardiovascular disease risk.

This check – as well as any other blood pressure monitoring – can be undertaken by our nurse and healthcare assistant team.  

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is the use of liquid nitrogen to freeze skin lesions such as warts, verrucas and solar keratoses, at -196°C.

Contraception

We offer a full range of contraception options to our patients including the contraceptive pill and depo injection. All of our clinical services are subject to tight confidentiality controls.

Diabetes

Our diabetes service is run by our practice nurse team and Dr Graeme Thompson.  

They meet every week to discuss patients, and keep a close eye on blood results etc.

Minor Surgery

We offer a range of minor surgery treatments from all our base sites (Brodick, Lamlash and Shiskine).  A referral for a minor surgery treatment will be arranged following consultation with your GP.

 

Gynaecology Clinics

Dr Faye Hamill is a GP with Specialist Interest in Gynaecology (GPwSI) she worked in the Gynaecology outpatient department at Ayrshire Central Hospital and also provides a community Gynaecology clinic on Arran.

Dr Faye Hamill offers a full range of contraceptive options as well as management of general Gynaecology presentations such as prolapse, incontinence, pelvic pain and problematic periods.

Sick/Fit Note Certificates

If you have been ill for 7 days or less you don’t need to see a Doctor, you can complete a Self-Certification form yourself.

If this is your first Fit Note you will need to book an appointment by calling 01770600516. 

If you have already had a Sick Note (Fit Note) your Doctor may not need to see you to issue an additional Sick Note. You can request an extended Sick/Fit Note through our easy to use eConsult service click here.

 

Tests And Investigations Results

Please telephone for the results of any tests you have undergone unless you are advised differently by a doctor or nurse.  Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results, however they will be pleased to assist you in making an appropriate appointment with a GP or practice nurse.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Travel Health

Arran Medical Group no longer provide a dedicated travel and vaccinations advice service on Arran. You should seek appropriate specialist advice well before travelling abroad, particularly if it is anticipated that any vaccinations or special measures might be required.
